This new formula offers all the vision protection of our original Macula Hx&#153, with the addition of Ribes nigrum (cassis) extract, in an easy-to-swallow 2-capsule serving. The very activity of producing vision releases a large volume of free radicals that can contribute to aging the eye. In youth, there is a robust supply of available antioxidants to help protect the eyes, an organ consisting of many delicate smaller organs, from these damaging free radicals. With age, this pool of available antioxidants declines exposing the eye to the harmful effects of unstable oxygen species called free radicals. The eye is very selective in what it allows inside the cells, to protect itself. Macula Hx Advanced, plus 40mg of Active cassis extract per serving, offers absorbable nutrients resulting in over-the top antioxidant protection for aging eyes.* Macula Hx Advanced contains eye nourishing nutrients including 300mg of NAC, 50mg Bilberry Fruit, 5mg Lutein, 1 mg Zeaxanthin and 2.5mg Lycopene. Grape Seed Extract Grape seeds naturally contain nutritional components such as flavonoids, linoleic acid (Omega 6) and polyphenols called Oligomeric ProanthoCyanidins or OPCs. In dietary supplement form, grape seed extract is primarily standardized as a source of concentrated OPCs (95%), which may provide beneficial antioxidant support for a host of pro-aging processes. OPCs may be protective of the structure and functions of various sites of the body, including the skin and pancreas. Rapidly growing research has also been investigating grape seed extract for its possibilities in numerous areas of health and wellbeing including skin, brain, teeth, bones and joints, fatty acid synthesis in the liver, vasculature, circulation and cells. Krill Oil Krill oil is extracted from small Antarctic crustaceans, the source of several highly nutritional components: 1) anti-inflammatory Omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, similar to those found in fish oil, contribute nutritional support for the brain and eyes, 2) known as marine lecithin, krill supplies lipotropic Phosphatidylcholine and choline, a fatty B vitamin, required by all cells but most notably to support healthy intestinal mucosa, fat metabolism in the liver and brain support and energy, 3) Astaxanthin is a red pigment carotenoid that provides the color to cooked shrimp and salmon. Due to its lipid solubility Astaxanthin carries high antioxidant capacity on free radicals in cells, making it protective for delicate tissues. Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. One serving of Krill Oil provides 150mg gram of EPA and 90 mg of DHA omega-3 fatty acids.
